Treatment for migraine symptoms

Migraine is a debilitatingly painful health condition often accompanied with vision disturbances, light sensitivity, nausea, vomiting and extreme fatigue. A migraine with or without aura, can last anywhere from 4 hours to 3 days and occur multiple times in a month. In the UK nearly 10 million people suffer from migraines, affecting as many as 1 in 5 women and 1 in 12 men. Significantly impacting their ability to function normally and consequently reducing quality of life.

The cause of migraines is complex, involving the release of specific chemicals in the brain, increasing nerve stimulation leading to inflammation and hypersensitivity. Although the underlying cause of migraine is still unknown, there is a strong genetic link and the triggers are commonly linked to factors such as; hormone changes, diet, sleep, stress and lifestyle.

Although there is no known cure for migraines, most people that suffer are unaware that the popular anti-wrinkle injection treatment, typically used for its ability to temporarily stop nerve stimulation, can be a very effective way to reduce migraine severity, frequency and symptoms. The treatment is minimally invasive, results are typically experienced within 2-3 days and last between 4-6 months on average.
